Lafayette Hill, PA – (9/17/2011) – The scoring came early and often at Victory Field #1 this evening, as Chestnut Hill College and Bloomfield College knotted at 3-3 halftime. The difference maker came at 60:59, when a take-down by the Deacon goalkeeper gave senior forward Gavin Reid (Dundee, Scotland) a penalty kick opportunity. He converted it for his second goal of the night, a 4-3 triumph, and the Griffins second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win of the season.

The Chestnut Hill College (3-2-1, 2-0) kept the Bloomfield College (0-5, 0-2) defense on their heels the entire evening, as Reid and fellow forwards, junior Darryl Richardson Jr. (Washington Township, NJ) and sophomore Mushe Wamulume (Media, PA) all figured into the scoring. Wamulume headed in a corner restart from Reid at 7:08, 1-0. The Deacons answered on a rebound goal by junior defenseman Jonathan Waters (St. Simon's Island, GA) at 10:48, 1-1, but it was not even long as Reid headed the ball to goal off a deflected corner kick from sophomore defenseman Chris Wilson (Willow Grove, PA) and senior defenseman Chris Moore (Berlin, NJ), 2-1. The tit-for-tat play continued, as the Deacons quickly reversed the momentum with two goals, 3-2, before Richardson tied the contest in the 29th minute (29:38). The energy remained high after halftime, but it was only Reid's second-half goal that made the difference in the affair.

Waters scored twice for the Deacons and senior midfielder Juan Ramirez (Medellin, Colombia) accounted for the third goal, but it was senior forward Terry Gibbs (London, England) who led the opponents with ten shots.

Reid and freshman forward Pat Steger (La Plata, MD) each totaled six shots to lead the Griffins. Junior goalkeeper Mike Goldstein (Pennsauken, NJ) made ten saves in the win (3-1).

The men's soccer team hosts Wilmington University in their next CACC contest; a 4:00 p.m. game on Tuesday, September 20.
