10/10/2012 8:07:00 PM

Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. – (10/10/2012) – The ball rolled Philadelphia University's way in today's Central Atlantic Collegiate College (CACC) contest, as Chestnut Hill College fell on the wrong side of 2-0 final after two second-half Ram goals. After controlling the first half, the Rams gave way to a more aggressive Griffin attack in the closing frame. Unfortunately, the Rams made use of their second-half attempts, scoring two of their five shots.

Philadelphia University (6-4-4, 3-3-3) owned an 8-3 shot advantage and a 4-2 corner kick edge in the first half, yet the halftime score remained 0-0 thanks to the play of the Chestnut Hill College (5-8-1, 3-4) defense and senior goalkeeper Michael Goldstein (Pennsauken, N.J.). The Griffin goalkeeper made five of his seven saves in the first half to keep the affair scoreless at halftime. After intermission, the Griffins looked to grab an edge. But only 15 minutes into the frame (60:39) the Rams set them back 1-0 on an unassisted tally from sophomore midfielder Ryan McIntyre (Woodbury, N.J.), who struck a loose ball outside the Griffin box to the back of the goal. Down but not out, the Griffins continued to outshoot through Rams the second half, 10-5. Sophomore goalkeeper Neil Kwiatkowski (Schenectady, N.Y.) matched Goldstein's first half effort and kept the Griffins at bay until a Ram insurance goal came in the final seconds (89:45) on a goal from sophomore midfielder Jakob Passernig (Austin, Texas), 2-0.

Senior midfielder Adam Miller (Swainton, N.J.) was the shot leader for the Rams with three, Passering and sophomore midfielder Victor Chagonda (Harare, Zimbabwe) each offered two. Kwiatkowski earned the win on six saves.

Four shots from sophomore forward Patrick Steger (La Plata, Md.) headlined the Griffins effort, which also received two shots apiece from sophomore forward Channing Couillard (Jacksonville, Fla.), junior midfielder Hernan Angulo (Lima, Peru), and junior midfielder Georges Beyiha (Yaoundé, Cameroon). Goldstein took the loss (2-2).

The men's soccer team faces their next CACC opponent at home, as the Griffins welcome Post University to Victory Field #1 for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
