Dominican College Collects CACC Win from Men’s Soccer

Box Score Orangeburg, N.Y. – (10/21/2012) – Dominican College earned a split of today's Central Atlantic Collegiate College (CACC) soccer competition with a 3-0 victory in the men's game. Junior midfielder Sonny Narro (Stamford, Conn.) assisted on the first Charger goal and scored the second on a bending corner-kick drive just past halftime. A third Charger goal came as insurance at 77:54 while junior forward Robert Stocklin (Haddonfield, N.J.) led the Griffin effort with two strikes at the Charger goal.
 
Chestnut Hill College (5-11-1, 3-7) was the aggressor early, buy in the end it was Dominican College (9-3-1, 7-2) who controlled the CACC clash. Narro found junior forward Jorge Zubillaga (Punte del Este, Uruguay) just before the 21-minute mark (20:52) to bring success to a 5-3 first-half shooting edge and give the Chargers a 1-0 lead. They held that margin through halftime and added to it on Narro's corner kick goal at 49:58, 2-0. The Chargers scored the third goal at 77:54 on a converted cross between senior midfielder Dennis Kcira (New City, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder Christopher Walsh (Baldwin, N.Y.), 3-0.
 
Narro's four shots topped the Chargers half of the box score and junior goalkeeper Andres Ruiz (Medellin, Colombia) was the victor with four saves in the shutout.
 
The Griffins shots came from Stocklin, junior forwards Darryl Richardson Jr. (Washington Township, N.J) and Mushe Wamulume (Media, Pa.), and freshman, defenseman Tristan Johns (Mamora, N.J.). Unfortunately no Griffins found goal in the CACC fray. Senior goalkeeper Michael Goldstein (Pennsauken, N.J.) made four saves in the losing effort (2-5).
 
The men's soccer team concludes their 2012 season with their final CACC contest; a 7:00 p.m. contest with Holy Family University on Wednesday, October 24. In annual Senior Night festivities, the Griffins will recognize Goldstein, midfielder Mark Pugliese (Philadelphia, Pa.) and defenseman Anthony O'Connor (Philadelphia, Pa.) in their final home contest.
