Women’s Volleyball Downed at Dominican College

Box Score Orangeburg, N.J. – (10/6/2012) – Dominican College gave Chestnut Hill College all they could handle in today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match as the Lady Chargers dismissed the Griffins on a 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-13) final. Freshman middle hitter Rachel Biro (Nazareth, Pa.) headlined the Griffin effort with eight points in the match.
 
Dominican College (13-7, 9-0) paced Chestnut Hill College (6-13, 2-6) in the opening set, carrying a 17-9 lead at the first Griffin timeout. Behind senior outside hitter Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, N.Y.), the Lady Chargers closed out the first set 25-15. They took the second set by the same final, 25-25, and the third set went in similar style with the Lady Chargers running away for a 25-13 final.
 
Fiorvanti led all participants with 12 kills and 15 digs in the match. She hit .478 (12K-1E-23TA) to help the Lady Chargers to a .305 (43K-11E-105TA) team hitting percentage. In addition, fellow senior outside hitter Courtney Heard (Ventura, Calif.) chipped in with eight kills on a .500 (8K-0E-16TA) hitting percentage and two blocks. Directing the offense was senior setter Whitney Ranger (Ventura, Calif.), who provided 34 assists.
 
Biro hit .357 (7K-2E-14TA) as the Griffins top offensive producer. Freshman setter Alyssa Tamsing (Ventura, Calif.) offered 15 assists to the offensive effort. On defense, junior outside hitter Alexandra DePalma (Shillington, Pa.) hustled to 12 digs.
 
The women's volleyball team returns home to host Georgian Court University in a 7:00 p.m. match on Tuesday, October 9.
