Philadelphia, PA – (3/21/2012) – Chestnut Hill College resumed their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule this afternoon as they welcomed #4 Concordia College (NY) to campus for a league match. The Clippers efficiently grabbed a 3-0 lead after doubles play and with a sweep of singles they claimed a 9-0 victory over the Griffins.
Concordia College (6-4, 2-0) worked quickly in doubles play, dispatching the Chestnut Hill College (4-6, 1-1) teams in order. Senior Geza Bazula (Budapest, Hungary) and sophomore Daniele Piludu (Cagliari, Italy) defeated sophomore
Yoann Pham (Boulogne-Billancourt, France) and senior
Julius Twyman (Coatesville, PA) 8-1 at number one singles and the other doubles matches finished soon after with the Clippers winning number two doubles 8-1 and number three doubles 8-0.
The Clippers continued to control play in singles action. They first won number four singles with freshman Tomasz Olfans (Opole, Poland) defeating Twyman 6-0, 6-1, then number one singles with Piludu topping freshman
Mike Humes (Medford, NJ) 6-1, 6-1. Sophomore
Manuel Ceniceros (Mexico City, Mexico) had a strong start, but eventually lost number three singles 6-3, 6-0, while sophomore
Jeramy Solema (Briarwood, NY) played strong in defeat at number six singles 6-2, 6-2. Pham lost number two singles 6-0, 6-2, and freshman
Sammy Atri (Mexico City, Mexico) lost number five singles 6-0, 6-2.
The men's tennis team breaks again from the CACC schedule to host St. Thomas Aquinas University in a 3:00 p.m. match on Friday, March 23.
