Caldwell, NJ – (3/24/2012) – Chestnut Hill College earned their second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win in shutout fashion today with a 9-0 victory at Caldwell College. The Griffins were dominant, allowing the Eagles their best effort in the top flights; number one doubles, 8-3, and number one singles, 6-2, 6-1.
Sophomore
Yoann Pham (Boulogne-Billancourt, France) and senior
Julius Twyman (Coatesville, PA) combined to win Chestnut Hill College (6-6, 2-1) their tough doubles point. Freshman
Mike Humes (Medford, NJ) and sophomore
Manuel Ceniceros (Mexico City, Mexico) followed suit with an 8-0 win at number two doubles while sophomores,
Jeramy Solema (Briarwood, NY) and
Stephan Wolfert (Ronkonkoma, NY) claimed number three doubles 8-1.
The Griffins dispatch Caldwell College (1-3, 0-2) just as easily in individual competition. Humes won number one singles and Pham followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at number two singles. Ceniceros won the point at number three singles, 6-0, 6-0. Solema won by the same final at number five singles, while Twyman and sophomore
Michael Pecoraro (Towson, MD) won number four and number six singles 8-0, respectively.
The men's tennis team competes next in a non-conference match at Adelphi University on Tuesday, March 27. Opening serve is schedule for 3:00 p.m.
