10/16/2013 7:13:00 PM

Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. – (10/16/2013) – The difference maker came early in today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest, as Holy Family University earned a 1-0 win over Chestnut Hill College by successfully scoring a rebound chance at 6:51. Senior midfielder Darryl Richardson Jr. (Washington Township, N.J.) and junior forward Channing Couillard (Jacksonville, Fla.) headlined the Griffins rallying effort with three shots apiece.

The first seven minutes of the affair nearly went by without a shot, but Holy Family University (5-7-1, 5-4) took the advantage when their first strike from sophomore forward Aiah Mbriwa (Abington, Pa.) allowed sophomore midfielder Kevin McCollick (Washington Township, Pa.) to record the contest's lone goal at 6:51, 1-0. After the goal, Chestnut Hill College (5-7-2, 4-3-1) was the aggressor, outshooting the Tigers 16-9 the rest of the way (16-11). Unfortunately, the Griffins could not get any shots past sophomore goalkeeper Richard Ongaro (Columbus, N.J.), who made seven saves in the win (2-3).

Senior midfielder Alex Bilay (Philadelphia, Pa.) was the Tigers shot leader with three takes at the Griffin goal. Freshman midfielder Christopher Tracey (Abington, Pa.) was the only other Tiger with more than one shot.

Following the early tally, the Griffins put consistent pressure on the Tigers defense. In addition to Richardson and Couillard, junior forward Juan Amaya (Cartagena, Colombia), sophomore midfielder Dominic Pernice (Rehoboth Beach, Del.), and freshman forward Charles O'Connell (Secaucus, N.J.) contributed a couple shots each to the Griffin effort. Freshman goalkeeper James Jackson (Sewell, N.J.) made four saves in the loss (5-6-1).

The men's soccer team returns home for their next CACC competition on Saturday, October 19, when they host Nyack College in a 3:00 p.m. Senior Day contest.
