Alexandra DePalma (Shillington, Pa.), who became the first Griffin to eclipse the 1,000-kill threshold with her team-high 12 kills.
The opening set was closely played to a 13-13 tie before Chestnut Hill College (9-21, 7-12) separated for a brief 19-17 edge. The Griffin advantage was erased quickly by Concordia College (NY) (4-15, 4-15), who went to senior outside hitter Irina Impellittiere (Cold Spring, N.Y.) to rally for a 25-22 win, 1-0. The second set became a runaway for the Clippers who took a 15-10 lead before holding off the Griffins in a 25-20 frame, 2-0. Unfortunately, the third quickly took on the same tempo with the Clippers mounting a 16-10 lead before closing the afternoon on a 25-21 win, 3-0.
Impellittiere led a trio of Clippers who went for double-digit kills. She totaled 13 kills, and added two aces, six digs, and three blocks as the Clippers point leader, 17.0. She was complimented by 12 kills from junior middle blocker Samantha Kurtzke (Montvale, N.J.) and ten from junior outside hitter Leina Braga (Salvador, Brazil) with all three feeding of the direction of senior right side Hillary Hoffman (East Meadow, N.Y.), 42 assists. Braga completed her double-double with a team-high 19 digs.
DePalma scored 12 kills to bring her career total to 1,001 and lead the Griffins with 12 points in the match. Freshman setter
Emily Drew (Ringoes, N.J.) offered 27 assists to surpass the Griffins single-season assists record (863) while freshman libero
Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) recorded 12 kills to leave the Griffins single-season dig mark at 687.
The women's volleyball team finishes the 2013 season, their sixth season under Head Coach Kim Feeny, at 9-21 overall and 7-12 in CACC play.
