Philadelphia, Pa. – (4/14/2013) – With a 5-1 league record and the conclusion of the 2012-2013 season, the Chestnut Hill College men's tennis team prepares to challenge #3 Philadelphia University in the Semifinal Round of the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Tennis Championship Tournament. Chestnut Hill College will serve as host and #2 seed for the playoff, which will features a 10:00 a.m. match between #1 Concordia College (NY) and #4 the University of the Sciences (USciences) and a 1:00 p.m. match between the Rams and Griffins on Saturday, April 19; a championship match to follow at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.
Chestnut Hill College (15-7, 5-1) went 2-1 on their February trip to Tampa, Florida, 6-2 in the month of March, and 4-2 in April to improve a 3-2 fall standing to their current 15-7 record. In March, the Griffins opened their CACC schedule with back-to-back shutout victories over Post University and Caldwell College on March 23, then earned non-conference victories against St. Thomas Aquinas College, 7-2 on March 2, Southern New Hampshire University, 6-3 on March 9, Dowling College, 8-1 on March 22, and La Salle University, 5-4 on March 28 to leave their record a 12-5 heading to the final month of regular season competition. April saw the Griffins earn conference wins over USciences, 6-3 on April 2, Philadelphia University, 9-0 on April 5, and Bloomfield College, 9-0 on April 13, en route to a #6 ranking in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II East Region (4/11/2013).
