Box Score 2 West Chester, Pa. - (9/14/2013) – After splitting their first day of play at the West Chester University Tournament, the Chestnut Hill College women's volleyball team battled Stonehill College and the hosting Golden Rams in their final two competitions of the event. In the early match, the Griffins took the first set from the Skyhawks, 25-22, before dropping the next three, 25-15, 25-17, and 25-20 in the 3-1 loss. Challenging the Golden Rams in their second match of the day, the Griffins were turned aside in just three sets, 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-18).
Against Stonehill College (3-3), senior outside hitter
Alexandra DePalma (Shillington, Pa.) headlined the Chestnut Hill College (1-7) offense, which was dually directed by freshman setter
Emily Drew (Ringoes, N.J.) and junior setter
Alyssa Tamsing (Ventura, Calif.). Drew totaled 16 assists while Tamsing provided 14. Freshman outside hitter
Madison McBride (Long Beach, Ca.) supported DePalma at the net with nine kills and 13 digs while freshman libero
Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) hustled to 18 digs.
Sophomore middle hitter
Rachel Biro (Nazareth, Pa.) was the Griffins top performer against West Chester University (7-0). She recorded seven kills on a .462 (7K-1E-13TA) hitting percentage off the feed of Tamsing, who totaled 12 assists in the match. McBride offered four kills and 11 digs, while Trabosh made 13 digs.
The women's volleyball team returns to their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule with their next match coming on Tuesday, September 17, 7:00 p.m. at Goldey-Beacom College.
