Box Score Lakewood, N.J. – (10/31/2014) – The home team took the first two sets, 26-24 and 25-17, but Chestnut Hill College could not be put away so easily. The Griffins responded with a 25-23 win in set three and a convincing 25-15 win in the fourth set, but the only people not convinced were the Lions who earned the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory by with a 15-11 triumph in the deciding set, 3-2 (26-24, 25-17, 23-25, 15-25, 15-11). Junior outside hitter Rachel Biro (Nazareth, Pa.) and freshman middle hitter Melissa Shunk (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) led the Griffins with 16 points and 14 points, respectively.

Georgian Court University (17-12, 13-3) were led by senior outside hitter Tatiana Villariny Rodriguez who led all participants with 19.5 points on 15 kills, four aces, eight digs, and a block. Sophomore setter Kelsey Oliver (Vancouver, Wa.) supplied 39 assists while three Lions recorded double-digit digs to carry their defensive effort.

For Chestnut Hill College (13-14, 8-8), Biro and Shunk both hit well off the set from junior setter junior setter Alyssa Tamsing (Ventura, Calif.) who supplied 33 assists in addition to her kill, nine digs, and a block. Biro hit .268 (14K-3E-41TA) to add 14 kills to her two digs and three blocks. Meanwhile, Shunk totaled 12 kills on a .478 (12K-1E-23TA) hitting percentage. On defense, sophomore libero Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) led a foursome of double-digit diggers with her 19 digs while Shunk recorded four block assists in the Griffins 10-block effort.

The women's volleyball team continues their CACC schedule tomorrow, Saturday, November 1, when they visit Dominican College for a 12:00 p.m. league match.
