Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - (2/11/2014) – After trailing Philadelphia University by as many as 20 points, 45-25, in the opening half of tonight's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest, Chestnut Hill College brought the Sorgenti Arena faithful to their feet with a thundering comeback that left them down one point, 77-76, with 0:21 seconds on the clock. A missed Ram free throw left the door open and a third chance basket from junior center Seamus Radtke (Philadelphia, Pa.) put the Griffins in the lead, 78-77, but the remaining four seconds (0:04) would be just enough for sophomore forward Derek Johnson (Conshohocken, Pa.) to hit the game-winning jumper, 79-78, for the Rams.

Philadelphia University (19-5, 13-2) could not miss off the opening tip, shooting 65.5% (19-of-29) in the opening half to secure a 47-34 halftime advantage. It was Johnson and senior guard Nick Schlitzer (Pottsville, Pa.) who carried the Rams hot hand, combining for 27 points on a combined 10-of-14 (.714) shooting effort that included a 7-of-10 (.700) clip from three-point range. The result was a 20-point Ram advantage, 45-25, with 3:52 remaining in the frame. The always aggressive Jakeem Bogans (Philadelphia, Pa.) helped Chestnut Hill College (7-15, 5-10) narrow the gap before halftime, as the senior guard got Radtke involved and scored four points of his own to leave the spread at 13 points, 47-34.

The Rams shooting charm seemed to disappear at the start of the second half as junior guard Christian Walck (Lancaster, Pa.) directed the Griffins back with all 14 of his points coming in the closing period. He hit a three point basket at 7:18 to reduce the Ram advantage to three points, 63-60, and less than a minute later (6:30) it was freshman guard Billy Cassidy (Primos, Pa.) who tied the contest at 63-63 with another three-point bucket. The Rams managed to briefly regain a four point lead, 75-71 (1:53), before a put-back from freshman forward Carson Murphy (Mohawk, N.Y.) cut the gap back to one point, 77-76, with 21 ticks remaining (0:21). A missed one-and-one opportunity gave the Griffins a chance at the win and on the ensuing possession a Walck drive fell short, as did the initial follow, before Radtke nailed the baseline jumper to grab the lead, 78-77, and ignite the Sorgenti crowd. Unfortunately, the basket left four seconds on the game clock (0:04), enough for the Rams to locate Johnson for the game winner, 79-78.

Schlitzer's 23 points led four Rams in double figures. He also recorded five rebounds, six assists, and a block. Johnson finished with 21 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and a steal while senior guard Nick Christian (Bensalem, Pa.) and sophomore forward T.J. Huggins (Alexandria, Va.) totaled 11 and ten points, respectively.

Walck and Radtke each totaled 14 points, leading four Griffins in double figures. Walck added seven rebounds, seven assists, and three steals to his scoring production, while Radtke additionally recorded four rebounds, an assist, a block, and a steal. Bogans finished with 11 points and graduate guard Taylor Trevisan (West Chester, Pa.) offered ten.

The men's basketball team will play their next CACC contest on Saturday, February 15, when they visit Post University for a 3:00 p.m. contest.
