10/20/2015 8:18:00 PM

Box Score Wilmington, Del. - (10/3/2015) – A decisive 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-12) victory was just what the doctor ordered for Chestnut Hill College who made their trip to Goldey-Beacom College a short one with a season-high 15 aces in tonight's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match. Junior libero Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) tied a career-high with six aces while junior outside hitter Madison McBride (Long Beach, Calif.) was the Griffins top scorer with ten points on six kills and four aces.

McBride's opening service gave Goldey-Beacom College (6-14, 2-10) trouble from the start as Chestnut Hill College (8-16, 7-4) forced a Lightning timeout even prior to taking a 6-0 lead in the first set. The Griffin advantage reached double-digits at 19-9 and reached as many as 12, 21-9, before settling back on a ten-point final, 25-15. The second set was the most competitive of the night, but featured four aces from Trabosh and a .308 (10K-2E-26TA) team hitting percentage that kept the Griffins one step ahead in the pivotal frame, 25-18. Unfortunately for the Lightning, the third set looked worse than the first as the Griffins only improved, hitting .333 (12K-3E-27TA) as a team and landing five more aces in a runaway 25-12 triumph.

Junior outside hitter Grace McCarthy (Middletown, Del.) led the Lightning with seven kills, but sophomore outside hitter Jada Canteen (Newark, Del.) proved to be the better option with two aces and five kills on a .714 (5K-0E-7TA) hitting percentage. Freshman setter Olivia Florence (Glen Allen, Va.) offered 14 assists while a team effort produced 36 digs and one block.

The Griffins 15 aces were the team's most since the 2013 campaign, when they spotted 16 in a 3-2 (25-15, 25-14, 24-26, 21-25, 15-10) win over Glenville Stats University (9/13/13). Behind 26 assists from freshman setter Kennedy Sutton (Chesapeake, Va.) and the the efficient play of junior middle hitter Emily Koehler (Bath, Pa.) and senior outside hitter Rachel Biro (Nazareth, Pa.) the Griffins hit .307 (30K-7E-75TA) as a team. Koehler led the Griffins with nine kills on a .692 (9K-0E-13TA) hitting percentage, while Biro was close behind with eight kills on a .471 (8K-0E-17TA) hitting percentage. McBride recorded a team-high 12 digs in addition to her offensive production. Trabosh added ten digs and a block to her impressive night on the serve.

The women's volleyball team continues their CACC schedule on Saturday, October 24, when they visit Concordia College (NY) for a 1:00 p.m. league match.
