Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - (10/21/2015) – Hanging on to their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) postseason aspirations for one more contest, Chestnut Hill College left Holy Family University today with a valuable tie, 1-1 (2OT). Senior midfielder Danielle Spinuzza (Williamstown, N.J.) put the Griffins on the scoreboard first, when her free kick ricocheted off a Tiger defender at 28:02. But in the 61st minute (60:32), senior midfielder Lisa Abramski (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) tied the contest with a rebound goal that served as the final tally in a double-overtime stalemate.

Holy Family University (10-4-1, 8-1-1) lived up to their billing as the CACC's third-place team, outshooting Chestnut Hill College (4-7-1, 2-6-1) 28-8, 6-1 in overtime, and drawing an 11-2 edge in corner kick opportunities. Yet, the Griffin defense was up to the task, forcing several shots wide while Spinuzza captained the offense. She headed the contest's first shot at 1:49 and put Chestnut Hill College in the catbird seat just after the 28-minute mark with her third goal of the season coming on a deflected free kick just outside the Tiger goal box, 1-0. Senior goalkeeper Kayla Reno (Pasadena, Md.) kept the Tigers scoreless for the opening 60 minutes, making seven saves before Abramski knotted the affair, rebounding a shot from junior forward Ashley Shackleford (Burlington, N.J.) at 60:32, 1-1.

The Tigers kept firing, but the shots failed to reach their intended target as Reno totaled seven saves in regulation and three in the first overtime while giving way to sophomore goalkeeper Meghan Guagenti (Pennsauken, N.J.) for 1:19 during the latter part of the second half. The combined effort was enough to hold on for the point, leaving the Griffins four behind 8th-seeded Goldey-Beacom College.

Abramski and freshman midfielder Brianna Rock (Bensalem, Pa.) each totaled five shots to headline the Tiger offense. Junior goalkeeper Kacie Booth (Maple Shade, N.J.) recorded only one save in the tie (6-2-1).

Behind Spinuzza, six other Griffins recorded a shot, but only a first-half strike from senior defender Stephanie Martinez (Cheltenham, Pa.) was put on goal.

The women's soccer team will conclude their 2015 season with a series of home games; the first is a 1:00 p.m. Senior Day contest versus CACC foe Nyack College.
