4/14/2015 9:06:00 PM

Philadelphia, Pa. – (4/14/2015) – Back in action less than 24 hours after a 9-0 loss to #6 Concordia College (NY), the Chestnut Hill College men's tennis team rebounded in style in its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) finale. The Griffins took care of business at intra-city rival Philadelphia University, capturing an 8-1 victory to lock up the #2 seed in this weekend's CACC Championship Tournament.

Freshman Jonathan Ducretot (Antibes, France) and junior Henry Boyle (London, England) got Chestnut Hill College (14-7, 5-1) off to a fast start with an 8-3 win at number three doubles, and freshmen Lucas Bocaletto (Itatiba, Brazil) and Pedro Festugato Regalin (Caxias do Sul, Brazil) piled on with an 8-4 decision at number one before seniors Michael Humes (Mount Laurel, N.J.) and Steven Say (Cannes, France) made it a 3-0 sweep with an 8-6 verdict on the second court.

Ducretot was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at fourth singles against Philadelphia University (10-11, 3-3), who used a victory at second singles to prevent a Griffin shutout. Regalin (6-3, 6-1), Say (6-4, 6-3), and senior Devin Hampton (Midland, Texas) (6-1, 7-5) were all straight-sets winners at third, first, and sixth singles, respectively. Senior Sammy Atri (Mexico City, Mexico) then topped off the match with a three-set thriller against Ram freshman Jacobo Atri (Mexico City, Mexico); the elder Atri prevailed 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7).

After tomorrow's match at Saint Joseph's University, set for 3:00 p.m., the #2 Griffins will meet #3 Post University in Saturday's CACC semifinals on the Chestnut Hill College tennis courts. The Rams also qualified for the postseason, earning the #4 seed in a three-way tiebreaker with the Eagles and Caldwell University; they will take on top-seeded Concordia College in the first semifinal, scheduled for 10:00 a.m, with the Griffins to follow at 1:00 p.m.
