Philadelphia, Pa. - (4/18/2015) – The Chestnut Hill College men's tennis team set up a familiar showdown for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) crown, sweeping past #3 Post University in this afternoon's semifinals to book a third straight rendezvous with top-seeded Concordia College (NY) in the title match.
Second-seeded Chestnut Hill College (15-8) got its postseason journey off to a fast start with an 8-3 victory at third doubles from freshman
Jonathan Ducretot (Antibes, France) and junior
Henry Boyle (London, England). Seniors
Steven Say (Cannes, France) and
Michael Humes (Mount Laurel, N.J.) secured an 8-4 triumph at number two before freshmen
Pedro Festugato Regalin (Caxias do Sul, Brazil) and
Lucas Bocaletto (Itatiba, Brazil) followed shortly with the same score on the top court, capping a three-point doubles effort for the Griffins.
The back end of the singles lineup delivered victory for the home side, as Boyle (6-1, 6-2) and Ducretot (6-2, 6-3) registered straight-sets victories at number six and number five, respectively, bringing the match to a close and booking a third consecutive match-up with the Clippers in the CACC championship match.
Looking to prevent a sixth consecutive Concordia College title, Chestnut Hill College hopes the third time is the charm when the teams get together again tomorrow, April 19, at 12:00 p.m. with the CACC crown - and the league's automatic bid to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II East Region Tournament – on the line.
