Box Score New Castle, Del. - (9/12/2015) – Early-season troubles continued for Chestnut Hill College on the second day of competition at the Wildcat Regional Invitational as they suffered a 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-19) loss to Le Moyne College in the first of two Saturday afternoon matches. Junior outside hitter
Madison McBride (Long Beach, Calif.) was the Griffins' top performer with 12 points on 11 kills and an ace.
Chestnut Hill College (0-7) had trouble getting started, falling behind a 14-9 margin before Le Moyne College (7-0) gradually grew their advantage into a 25-17 win. Sophomore setter Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y.) focused the Dolphin offense through junior outside hitter Natalie Casson (Kingman, Ariz.) who spotted six kills in the set. She scored four more in the second set and five more in the third set to lead Le Moyne College with 15 kills on a .371 (15K-2E-35TA) hitting percentage.
In the second set, McBride got some help upfront from sophomore middle hitter
Samantha Gelfan (Chandler, Ariz.) who recorded five kills in addition to McBride's four kills. Unfortunately, the extra support only kept the Griffins on-pace with the Dolphins who nearly led the whole way in a 25-21 spread. The Griffins had little chance in the third set where the Dolphins enjoyed a comfortable lead en route to a 25-19 match-clinching victory.
McBride's dozen points were complimented by seven kills from Gelfan. Freshman setter
Kennedy Sutton (Chesapeake, Va.) supplied 24 assists in addition to three kills, an ace, seven digs, and a block assist, while junior libero
Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) captained the Griffins' defensive efforts with 19 digs.
Chestnut Hill College has a chance to break even on their second day at the Wildcat Regional Invitational with a 4:00 p.m. match versus Pace University still on the afternoon's agenda.
