Box Score New Castle, Del. - (9/16/2015) – Senior midfielder Nicholas Jaffe (Sao Paulo, Brazil) continued to fulfill his role as playmaker in today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Goldey-Beacom College, where the Griffins captured a 3-2 league victory on his perfectly played ball to the foot of junior defenseman Nils Fussen (Aachen, Germany) at 71:28. Jaffé also assisted on the Griffins' first goal which bounced around off a corner to the foot of senior forward Juan Amaya (Cartagena, Colombia) midway through the first half.

Goldey-Beacom College (1-4, 1-2) controlled off the opening kick, until Chestnut Hill College (2-2-1, 1-0-1) gained the momentum around the 16-minute mark. Jaffé played the point, putting pressure on the Lightning for a series of corner kicks that eventually ended with a converted ricochet to Amaya at 28:39, 1-0. The Lightning managed to tie the contest late in the period as sophomore midfielder Cameron Wilkinson (Terrigal, Australia) located sophomore midfielder Lorenzo Gama (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) for a 20-yard strike with only ten seconds (44:50) remaining, 1-1.

Chestnut Hill College regained the advantage 15 minutes into the second half, when senior midfielder Matthew Casaletto (Sewell, N.J.) connected for another long-range tally, 25 yards to the top right corner of the Lightning goal, 2-1 (60:08). The Griffins' game-winner came just ten minutes later with Fussen tapping in a well-played ball from Jaffé at 71:28, 3-1. A late penalty kick opportunity was the only recourse for Goldey-Beacom College as junior forward Rerom Delys (Vila Velha, Brazil) capitalized on the free kick to bring the Lighting back within one, 3-2, during the final five minutes of play (86:15). But the effort was too little, too late, leaving the Griffins to their first league win of the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Suhail Bismilla (Johannesburg, South Africa) (1-4) made three saves for the Lightning while junior goalkeeper James Jackson (Sewell, N.J.) (2-2-1) totaled six saves for the Griffins. Amaya and sophomore defenseman Lindsay Murdoch (Perth, Scotland) led a balanced attack with three shots apiece.

The men's soccer team continues their CACC schedule at Post University on Saturday, September 19, when they face the Eagles in a 2:30 p.m. league match.
