Box Score Waterbury, Conn. - (11/15/2016) – This evening's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Quarterfinal at the Drubner Center featured #4S Chestnut Hill College and #1N Post University. The Eagles made efficient use of their time with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-14) victory over the Griffins. They advance to the CACC Semifinals, which will be held at Wilmington University on Saturday, November 12. The Griffins were led by senior middle hitter Emily Koehler (Bath, Pa.) and senior libero Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.), who respectively headlined the Scarlet and Gold offense - with seven kills – and defense – with 18 digs.

Post University (26-4, 17-2) lived up to their billing, hitting .291 (48K-14E-117TA), scoring six aces, and uniting for three blocks. They hit their best, .350 (17K-3E-40TA), in the first set, spotting Chestnut Hill College (13-16, 11-8) a 13-9 advantage before finishing them off with the last 11 points of the frame, 25-16 (1-0). The Eagles carried the momentum into the second set, where they established an 8-2 lead only for a Griffin timeout to spark the Scarlet and Gold for a 7-3 run that narrow the margin to two points, 11-9. But that was as close as Chestnut Hill College would get as Post University paced them to a 25-19 final (2-0). The Griffins held an early 5-4 advantage in the third set, unfortunately it was a short-lived achievement as the Eagles streaked to 9-5, 15-8, and 23-11 leads before ending the quarterfinal on a 25-14 final.

The Eagles offered three players with double-digit kills and double-digit digs, but none of them recorded a double-double. Seniors, outside hitter Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.), middle Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.), and middle hitter Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y.) headlined the offense with 13, 12, and 11 kills, respectively. German added two aces and three block assists to her striking to lead Post University with 15.5 points. Senior outside hitter Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.), junior libero Sarah Ryder (Cedar Rapids, Iowa), sophomore setter Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) combined for 43 digs; Griffin paired her 19 with nine kills, three assists, three aces, and two blocks, while Root supplied a kill, 39 assists, and an ace to her dozen (12).

Koehler hit .312 (7K-2E-16TA) to score her seven kills. She added a dig and a block to her offense and she finished with a team-high 7.5 points. Junior right side Samantha Gelfan (Chandler, Ariz.) and sophomore setter Kennedy Sutton (Chesapeake, Va.) helped her there; the former totaled seven points with five kills and two blocks while the latter offered a kill, 22 assists, an ace, four digs, and a block.

The Chestnut Hill College women's volleyball team finishes the 2016 season with a 13-16 overall record and an 11-8 CACC standing.
