Box Score | Old Westbury, N.Y. - (5/9/2016) – #4 Adelphi University won the first point of the match, but the morning was the Griffins' as #5 Chestnut Hill College upset the Panthers, 5-2, in today's National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) East Regional Tournament contest. The Scarlet and Gold grinded out two valuable points at the end of the doubles round and eventually separated from a 2-2 tie with three straight singles wins. Sophomore Lara Scholtze (Bod Hamburg, Germany) and junior Laure-Anne Josso (Vannes, France) won in both formats and provided the final two individual, match-clinching victories.
 
It was Adelphi University (16-2) who won the first point of the regional playoff with an 8-3 win at number three doubles. The celebration, however, was short-lived as Chestnut Hill College (15-9) endured for team victories at number one (8-6) and number two (9-8) singles thanks to the respective, and collective, efforts of Scholtze and senior captain Iman Williams-Mulesa (Pickering, Ontario), and Josso and senior Axe Owens (Trenton, N.J.).
 
The Panthers briefly tied the match at 2-2 with a 6-0, 6-1, win at number five singles. But the competition soon ended as succeeding Griffin wins came at number six (6-1, 6-0), number two (6-3, 6-1), and number one (6-2, 6-2) singles. Junior Louise Charley (St. Jean de Luz, France) provided the first of those points while the latter two were respectively scored by Scholtze and Josso.
