Box Score Westbury, Conn. - (9/17/2016) – Looking for their third straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win, the Chestnut Hill College women's volleyball team traveled to Post University for their first North Division-South Division crossover. The Eagles greeted the Griffins with two quick wins, 25-15 and 25-12, before answering a 25-23 Scarlet and Gold victory in the third set with a match-winning 25-18 win in the fourth frame (3-1). Senior outside hitter
Madison McBride (Long Beach, Calif.) provided a Griffin-best 19.5 points with 16 kills on a .204 (16K-5E-54TA), three aces, and a block assist while senior libero
Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) tried to settle the Eagles' attack with 28 digs.
Post University (8-2, 1-0) seized the upper hand on Chestnut Hill College (4-7, 2-1) with 25-15 and 25-12 victories in the first two sets. The Griffins hoped to rally in the third set, recovering from an early 8-2 Eagle advantage to tie the set at 13-13 and edge out the home team 25-23. McBride, who totaled three kills, an ace, and her block in the frame, got some help from junior right side
Samantha Gelfan (Chandler, Ariz.) and senior middle hitter
Emily Koehler (Bath, Pa.) in the victory; the former provided four kills on five attempts while the latter recorded three kills. Unfortunately, the Griffins could not follow up the effort with a fourth-set victory as the Eagles rallied from a 16-14 deficit to end the match on a 25-18 win (3-1).
The Eagles were led by senior sisters, Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) and Haley Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.), who each recorded 17 kills. The first Griffin added 15 digs and three blocks to her offense while the second supplied eight digs and two blocks to hers. Senior middle hitter Skyler German (Kansas City, Mo.) added 14 kills, 12 digs, and four blocks while sophomore setter Brianna Root (Bristol, Conn.) offered 49 assists and 18 digs.
Behind McBride, Koehler served as the Griffins second best scoring threat. She finished with seven kills and a dig. Sophomore setter
Kennedy Sutton (Chesapeake, Va.) supplied 31 assists in addition to two kills, three digs, and a pair of block assists.
The Chestnut Hill College women's volleyball team return to Sorgenti Arena on Wednesday, September 21, when they host Holy Family University for their Get Real with Teal event. The CACC match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. opening serve.
