Samantha Gelfan (Chandler, Ariz.) totaled the most kills on the afternoon for the Scarlet and Gold, scoring 12 in addition to her three digs and four blocks. Freshman outside hitter
Reily Byxbee (Indianapolis, Ind.) was a noteworthy contributor in both matches with three aces, a kill, and four digs versus the Yellow Jackets and seven kills, seven digs, and a block against Queens College.
Chestnut Hill College (2-1) won its first set of the afternoon, 25-20; the victory came thanks to the play of sophomore
Samantha Smith (Harrisburg, Pa.) and Gelfan, who combined for seven kills and headlined a .387 (13K-1E-31TA) team hitting percentage. Unfortunately, the Griffins could not keep up the pace as fates reversed after a three-set AIC (3-1) rally. The Yellow Jackets matched the Griffins' first set victory with their own 25-20 win in the second set. They added a convincing 25-13 win in the third set and a 25-18 win in the fourth set to claim the match victory. Seniors, outside hitter

Emily Koehler (Bath, Pa.) both recorded 10 kills. McBride matched hers with an assist, eight digs, and a block assist, while Koehler added a block assist as well. Sophomore setter

Kara Turtzer (La Habra Heights, Calif.) played a major role with 17 digs in excess of her two aces, two assists, and a kill. Gelfan and freshman middle blocker
Cassie Callahan (Bridgeton, Mo.) each provided two block assists.
In the afternoon's second affair, Queens College (2-2) took a commanding 7-1 lead before defeating the Griffins by a 25-20 final in the first set. The Knights added additional wins of 25-23 and 25-15 to overcome Chestnut Hill College (2-2), first owning a 13-3 advantage before holding off a Byxbee inspired rally in the second set and then gradually pulling away for the victory in the third set. Byxbee came off the Griffin bench for her seven kills, seven digs, and a block. Gelfan supported with six more kills while Sutton offered 19 assists, a kill, and two digs. Junior defensive specialist
Peyton Reno (Wilmington, Del.) hustled to 20 digs and scored two aces while Gelfan and freshman middle hitter
Chase Cooksey (Herndon, Va.) both provided two blocks.
The Chestnut Hill College women's volleyball team will look for revenge against AIC on Friday, September 9, when they face both the Yellow Jackets (1:00 p.m.) and Pace University (5:00 p.m.) during the first day of competition at Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival, Wilmington University's Wildcat Regional Invitational.
