Box Score Newark, Del. - (10/6/2017) – Starting a busy weekend, Chestnut Hill College resumed their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule at Wilmington University this evening. As the league match progressed, the Wildcats used consecutive wins of 25-18 and 25-17 to claim a 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-18, 25-17) league victory over the Griffins. Sophomore outside hitter Reily Byxbee (Madison, Conn.) was the Scarlet and Gold point leader with 12.5 (12 kills, 1 block assist) while senior libero Peyton Reno (Wilmington, Del.) hustled to 36 digs in addition to providing an assist.

Each set evolved in similar fashion as Wilmington University (8-12, 4-4) gradually pulled away in a 25-20 opening-set final only for Chestnut Hill College (4-14, 3-5) mirror the effort in the second set, 25-23. The third and fourth sets followed the theme, but both of those went to the home side; 25-18 and 25-17. In the third set, the Wildcats separated from a 9-9 tie for an eventual 25-18 win, and in the fourth the CACC rivals were knotted as late as 13-13, before the hosts delivered a 12-4 closing run.

Sophomore opposite Jill Braunsberg (Birdsboro, Pa.) was Wilmington University top performer with 11 kills, 23 assists, four aces, 20 kills, and two blocks (2 assists). Her renaissance effort was complimented by 21 assists and 17 digs from junior setter Miranda Shaw (Boston, Va.), and additional double digit scoring efforts from freshman outside hitter Mandy Behiels (Edmonton, Canada) (nine kills, an assist and 14 digs), junior outside hitter Brittany Ford (Newark, Del.) (eight kills, an assist, 18 digs, and three blocks), and senior middle hitter Eile Harris (Tabernacle, N.J.) (six kills, five aces, four digs, and seven blocks).

Byxbee recorded her 12.5 points with 12 kills and a block assist. She also recorded two assists and 19 digs. She was complimented on the offensive end by junior setter Kennedy Sutton (Chesapeake, Va.), who totaled four kills, 30 assists, and seven digs. Defensively, Byxbee's play came in support of Reno, sophomore defensive specialist Janie Green (Hayes, Va.), sophomore middle hitter Cassie Callahan (St. Louis, Mo.), and senior right side Samantha Gelfan (Chandler, Ariz.). Green recorded an assist and 16 digs, Callahan offered eight kills, five digs, and three blocks (1 solo, 2 assists), while Gelfan contributed seven kills and three blocks (1 solo, 2 assists).

The Chestnut Hill College women's volleyball team plays twice tomorrow, Saturday, October 7, at Nyack College, as they challenge the hosting Warriors in a noon (12:00 p.m.) match before facing pace University in a 2:00 p.m. non-conference engagement.
