Chestnut Hill College (7-9, 6-6) took their initial lead at 6:24, when Burns collected the rebound from a
Pedro Dutra (Passos, Brazil) shot and reconnected it with the junior midfielder, who tapped it past the Felician University (3-10-1, 3-7) goalkeeper, 1-0. The Golden Falcons replied about six minutes later (12:44), thanks to a great individual effort from senior forward Kenny Monfort (Spring Valley, N.Y.) as he collected a loose ball and scored it to the right corner of the Griffin goal from 30 yards out, 1-1. The contest remained in stalemate for the next 36 minutes, that is when Bruhn played a long ball over the Felician University defense to Marra's foot for a flick into the Golden Falcon goal, 2-1 (48:29). After halftime, Chestnut Hill College preserved their 2-1 lead with a solid team effort that denied a dozen (12) shots, before a Burns break down the left sideline opened the door for a one-touch goal from fellow senior, midfielder
Tyler Johnson (Howell, N.J.), 3-1 (86:36). The insurance goal was more than enough the hold off the Golden Falcons for the final 3:24.
Monfort, junior midfielder Connor McKenna (Navan, Ireland), and junior forward Chris McLaughlin (Hollis, N.Y.) recorded four shot apiece, leading Felician University to a slight 22-21 shot advantage. Junior goalkeeper Joe Santori (Wood-Ridge, N.J.) totaled 10 saves in the loss (3-9-1).
Dutra took a team-high seven shots, including the one that scored the Griffins' first goal of the affair. Senior midfielder
Tales Domingues (Sao Paulo, Brazil) offered four shots, while three others recorded at least two shots. Sophomore goalkeeper
Sergio Hernandez (Ossining, N.Y.) made five saves in the win (4-5). Prior to the start of the contest, Burns, Domingues, Johnson, and senior forward
Jason Doherty (Letterkenny Donegal, Ireland) were honored for their contributions to the Chestnut Hill College men's soccer program.
While awaiting CACC postseason seeding, Chestnut Hill College plays the first of two remaining regular season, non-conference games on Tuesday, October 23, when they welcome Mercy College for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
