Philadelphia, Pa. – (10/23/2018) – Chestnut Hill College concluded their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) series with South Division rival Jefferson this evening as the Lady Rams left Sorgenti Arena with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-11) victory. Freshman right side
Lauren Lipinski (Gilbert, Ariz.) served as the Scarlet and Gold's top performer with a team-high 10 points on nine kills and an ace; she also matched junior middle hitter
Cassie Callahan (St. Louis, Mo.) and junior libero
Janie Green (Hayes, Va.) for the team lead in digs with nine.
Jefferson (21-8, 14-2) gradually pulled away from Chestnut Hill College (8-17, 5-10) in a 25-17 opening set (1-0). The Lady Rams used the momentum to establish a 17-7 edge in the second set, but the Griffins reduced the 10-point difference by half, 22-17, before surrendering the frame by a 25-19 measure (2-0). Unfortunately, that is as competitive as the match would get with Jefferson recovering from an 8-7 Chestnut Hill College edge for a 25-11 (3-0) victory in the third set.
Senior outside hitter Courtney Wensel (Bechtelsville, Pa.) led the Lady Rams in points (11) with 10 kills and an ace, but junior middle hitter Amber Johnson (Hanover, Pa.) and sophomore outside hitter Abigail Kress (Lansdale, Pa.) were their most efficient hitters with respective .429 (8K-2E-14TA) and .438 (8K-1E-16TA) percentages. Senior setter Alexandra Harrington (St. Leonard, Md.) supplied 26 assists, a kill, and a team-high 12 digs.
Lipinski provided the Griffins best hitting numbers with a .304 (9K-2E-23TA) success rate. Callahan added six kills, an assist, and an ace to her digs, while Green also recorded an ace. Senior setter
Kennedy Sutton (Chesapeake, Va.) contributed 19 assists, two aces, and three digs.
Chestnut Hill College continues their CACC schedule on Thursday, October 25, with a 7:00 p.m. match versus Concordia College (NY).
