Box Score | Philadelphia, Pa. - (10/3/2018) – Playing for the first time since the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional Championships, Chestnut Hill College officially began their 2018-2019 match schedule with today's non-conference tilt at Jefferson. The Griffins won the doubles points with their respective 6-2 and 6-4 wins in the third and second flights. Then secured a 5-2 win over the Rams with individual wins at number four (6-3, 7-5), number three (6-0, 7-6), number six (6-1, 6-2), and number five (6-4, 6-4) singles.
Junior
Adam Gavin (Gothenburg, Sweden) and freshman
Kai Adler (?) earned the first doubles win for Chestnut Hill College (1-0) with their 6-2 win in the third flight. It was followed by a 6-4 number two doubles win from sophomore
Jesus Darias (Bolivar, Venezuela) and junior
Antoine Gautier (Bordeaux, France), which clinched the doubles point for the Griffins, 1-0. Unfortunately, the Scarlet and Gold were unable to sweep the round as Jefferson (1-2) earned a 6-4 win at number one doubles.
Junior
Erik Jorsal (Mudgeeraba, Australia) added to the Griffin lead with the first point of individual play as he triumphed 6-3, 7-5, at number four singles, 2-0. Soon after, Gautier made it 3-0 with his 6-0, 7-6, win at number three singles. But that is when the Rams responded, closing to within one point with back-to-back wins at number two (6-3, 5-7, 6-4) and number one (6-4, 7-6 (11-9)) singles, 3-2. Chestnut Hill College finally added the clincher at number six singles, where Gavin offered a 6-1, 6-2, victory. Adler added the final Griffin point with his 6-4, 6-4, win at number five singles.
Chestnut Hill College continues their fall schedule on Tuesday, October 9, when they visit West Chester University for a 2:30 p.m. match.
