Chestnut Hill College Halted At Holy Family University

Philadelphia, Pa. – (10/4/2018) – Playing on back-to-back nights, Chestnut Hill College had trouble keeping up with their cross-city rivals as Holy Family University dismissed the Griffins by a 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-15) Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) final. Junior outside hitter Reily Byxbee (Madison, Conn.) led the Griffins in points with 7.5 (7 kills, 1 block assist), but junior middle hitter Cassie Callahan (St. Louis, Mo.) offered the Scarlet and Gold's best offensive performance with six kills on a .235 (6K-2E-17TA) hitting percentage.

Holy Family University (15-5, 9-1) quickly separated from Chestnut Hill College (5-13, 3-7) in the first set, establishing a 15-8 lead before the first Griffin timeout. Unfortunately, the break did not have the desired effect as the Tigers sported a 22-11 lead before earning a 25-15 opening victory (1-0). Plat continued to go the home team's way in the second set, where Holy Family University grabbed a 9-1 lead to overpower the Scarlet and Gold in a 25-13 end (2-0). Chestnut Hill College kept the third set competitive early, 11-8, but the Tigers outscored the Griffins 14-7 to conclude the match with another 25-15 measure (3-0).

Senior middle hitter Chase Wassel (North Wales, Pa.) dominated the match with 16 kills on a .375 (16K-4E-32TA) hitting percentage. She also recorded seven digs and two of the Tigers' 12 aces. Freshman setter Morgan Silks (Norristown, Pa.) offered 26 assists, while junior libero Jillian Boyle (North Andover, Mass.) recorded a team-high 12 digs.

Senior setter Kennedy Sutton (Chesapeake, Va.) supplied all but one of Chestnut Hill College's 17 assists. She also offered an ace and six digs. Junior libero Janie Green (Hayes, Va.) headlined the Griffins' defensive efforts with nine digs.
