Goldey-Beacom College went toe-to-toe at Victory Field #1 in tonight's contest. The Griffins created an even playing field that left the first half scoreless, but in the latter half
the Lightning capitalized off of a deflection in the box resulting in the 1-0 loss.
Chestnut Hill College (5-8, 4-5
CACC) and
Goldey-Beacom College (4-9-1, 3-5-1
CACC) were evenly matched during the first half, despite the visitor's (10-7) shot advantage. Junior defender
Andrew Johnstone (Liverpool, England) attempted a last second (44:59) header off of a corner kick, but it was intercepted by the goalkeeper resulting in a 0-0 deadlock. At 66:13 in the second half, a rebounded corner kick deflection off of junior goalkeeper
Frank Maniscalco (Philadelphia, Pa.) ultimately sealed the fate of Chestnut Hill College, 1-0. The Griffins had a promising run of four consecutive corner kicks (82:09, 82:28, 83:02, 83:28), unfortunately they could not translate any of those attempts into goals. Junior midfielder
Pedro Dutra (
Passos, Brazil) scrambled in a final heroic effort at 89:10, but he was denied ending the affair 1-0.
Senior midfield
Chahin Aghrim (Bonn, Germany) recorded the only tally (2 shots) of the match headlining for
Goldey-Beacom College, while eight other Lightning players logged shots as well. Sophomore goalkeeper Cole Lewis (Middletown, Del.) took the win (1-2) with three saves.
Dutra led Chestnut Hill College with five shots, followed by three shots each from
