Box Score Rutherford, N.J. - (2/17/2018) – No stranger to dramatic conclusions, Chestnut Hill College battled Felician University through two overtime periods in this afternoon's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. Junior guard Liban Awl (Manassas, Va.) hit one of his six (6-of-11, .545) three point baskets to force the second overtime frame, but his career-high 29 points came in defeat as the Golden Falcons won the affair by a 80-75 measure. Awl also grabbed nine rebounds, supplied two assists, and made three steals; he got most of his help from junior forward Tony Toplyn Jr. (Sicklerville, N.J.), who totaled 17 points, seven rebounds, two assists, three blocks, and a steal.

Chestnut Hill College (5-19, 4-13) came back from a 28-16 halftime deficit, pulling within two points, 41-39, of Felician University (11-14, 8-9) on an Awl three pointer with 11:54 remaining in regulation. From there, the margin remained within two possessions until a put back by junior forward Roman Letterlough (Harrisburg, Pa.) (54-52, 0:56), a free throw from senior guard Demetrius Isaac (Philadelphia, Pa.) (54-53, 0:26), and a few clutch plays from Toplyn brought the Griffins even, 55-55, with the Golden Falcons in the closing seconds (0:03).

Awl scored the Griffins' first four points of the first overtime, helping them secure a 59-57 (4:20) edge before Felician University used a Scarlet and Gold turnover and a fast break layup to gain favor, 61-59 (2:40). The home side then paced the Scarlet and Gold until the final seconds, where Awl hit again, nailing a contested, step-back three pointer to extended the game another frame. Unfortunately, the Golden Falcons never trailed in the second overtime, ultimately benefitting from a 28-point, 11-rebound double-double from junior guard Terrell Spaulding (Paterson, N.J.).

Spaulding was one of three Golden Falcons with double digit rebounds. Despite a poor shooting performance (7-of-22, .318), he hit 12-of-13 (.923) from the free throw line and recorded three assists and a steal. Felician University also got a double-double of 14 points and 17 rebounds from junior forward Rashaan Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y.). He added two assists, four blocks, and a steal in the process. His classmate, forward Marlon Ried (Englewood, N.J.) was the third Golden Falcon to grab at least 10 rebounds, doing so while also recording eight points, an assist, and two steals.

Lastly, senior guard Gjaimeir Stanford (Wilmington, Del.) and freshman guard Mansfield Warren Jr. (South Amboy, N.J.) respectively added 16 points and 14 points to the Felician University effort.

Awl finished 9-of-16 (.563) from the field and Toplyn was 8-of-15 (.533), but the rest of the Griffins were only hit 8-of-44 (.182) from the floor. Of them, Isaac offered nine points, two rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while senior center Chris Evans (Norristown, Pa.) totaled four points, ten rebounds, and an assist.

The Chestnut Hill College men's basketball team continues their CACC schedule on Wednesday, February 21, with an 8:00 p.m. contest at Holy Family University.
