Philadelphia, Pa. - (9/28/2018) – Chestnut Hill College visited Jefferson for tonight's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match, which unfortunately concluded in the home team's favor, 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-20). Junior outside hitter
Reily Byxbee (Madison, Conn.) led Chestnut Hill College with 11 kills, while classmate middle hitter
Cassie Callahan (St. Louis, Mo.) and sophomore outside hitter
Corrine Kalala (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) offered seven kills each.
In the first period, Chestnut Hill College (4-11, 2-5 CACC) and Jefferson (12-7, 7-1 CACC) ensued in a back-and-forth battle. The Lady Rams paced the Griffins, but experienced a brief stall before securing the final point as a Byxbee kill ignited one last Chestnut Hill College's rally in a 25-22 (1-0) end. A mid-set, seven point Lady Ram run was the Griffins' downfall in the second period as the home team took the set by a 25-16 (2-0) measure. The Scarlet and Gold had one last chance to interrupt Jefferson's streak in the third set. Chestnut Hill College trailed most of the period and by as much as nine points, 22-13, before kills from Kalala, Callahan, and Byxbee closed the gap to three points, 22-19. A Jefferson timeout followed the run allowing both teams to regroup. Unfortunately, the beak worked against the Griffins as the Lady Rams ended the affair soon after, 25-20 (3-0).
Senior outside hitter Courtney Wensel (Bechtelsville, Pa.) led the Lady Rams with 14 kills, four digs, and two block assists, while sophomore middle hitter Logan Dontell (Red Lion, Pa.) picked up eight kills and three digs. Sophomore libero Caitlin Crespo (Womelsdorf, Pa.) added 11 digs and junior defensive specialist Alexis Leddy (Reading, Pa.) was not far behind with ten digs of her own.
Byxbee's 11 (11K-5E-32TA) kills were accompanied by one assist, 10 digs, and two block assists. Kalala (5 digs) and Callahan (8 digs, 1 block assist) followed with seven kills each. Freshman right side
Lauren Lipinski (Glibert, Ariz.) recorded four kills and nine digs, while senior setter
Kennedy Sutton (Chesapeake, Va.) logged 25 assists and six digs. Sophomore outside hitter
Ragen Baldwin (Lancaster, Pa.) chipped in one kill, one assist, and one block assist. Junior libero
