Griffins Rattle #12 Rams in 91-86 Loss; Wildgoose Scores Career High 30 Points and Fourth Double-Double

Philadelphia, Pa. – (1/8/2019) – Chestnut Hill College hosted their first home contest of the New Year, going  head-to-head against #12 Jefferson in tonight's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup.  Senior forward Jaeda Wildgoose (Franklin Township, N.J.) posted a career-high 30 points and her fourth double-double (13 rebounds) in the highly-competitive 91-86 loss. She scored 14 of her points in the first half, keeping the Griffins afloat in a 39-37 spread. Unfortunately, the Lady Rams outscored the Griffins 25-17 in the third  quarter, giving them just enough breathing room to heading to a fourth quarter that saw the Scarlet and Gold lead 75-74 (4:16), before giving way to Jefferson's clutch free throw performance (11-of-14, .786 over last 4:16).

Despite Jefferson (15-0, 6-0) controlling the first quarter of the contest, 21-16, a three pointer from freshman guard Lauren Crim (Warrington, Pa.) gave Chestnut Hill College (2-11, 0-5) their first lead of the night, 24-23, with 6:02 remaining in the second quarter. From there, both teams exchanged buckets until freshman guard Abbey Spratt (Doylestown, Pa.) reduced the deficit to two points, 39-37, just 27 second (0:27) before halftime. Unfortunately, the Lady Rams opened the third quarter with a six-point run that stretched their lead to an eight points, 45-37, with 7:11 left in the period. The deficit reached 11 points, 62-51, latter in the frame (1:35) and with their chances of dethroning the top team in the region (D2SIDA, 1/7/2019) slipping away Chestnut Hill College issued one last rally. A crucial three pointer from sophomore guard Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.) tied the affair, 72-72, with 5:42 remaining in the fourth quarter. A little more than a minute later (4:16), junior forward Shannon Glenn (Philadelphia, Pa.) hit the three pointer that gave the Griffins their brief one-point, 75-74, edge. After a Wildgoose layup at 3:28, Chestnut Hill College remained one point ahead, 77-76, unfortunately, the Lady Rams scored the next two buckets, 80-77 (2:57) and hit 11 of their final 14 free throws to secure a 91-86 win.
