Newark, Del. - (10/10/2019) – Chestnut Hill College visited Wilmington University for this evening's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division match. The Wildcats welcomed the Griffins with wins of 25-14 and 25-11 in the opening sets. The Scarlet and Gold recovered with a 25-22 win in the third set, but the victory was not enough to sway the momentum as Wilmington University ended the match with a 25-23 win in the fourth set. Reily Byxbee (Madison, Conn.) led Chestnut Hill College with 12.5 points as she added 10 digs and a block assist to a team and season-high 12 kills, that she achieved on a .229 (12K-4E-35TA) hitting percentage.
Wilmington University (12-7, 4-3) emerged from an early 4-4 tie and paced Chestnut Hill College (8-8, 5-3) to a 18-13 spread, before winning the first set with a closing 7-1 run; 25-14. The Griffins led at the start of the second set, holding a narrow 7-6 edge on an ace from senior libero
Janie Green (Hayes, Va.). Unfortunately, it was followed by a ten-point Wildcat run that separated the home team for a commanding 16-7 lead and an eventual 25-11 win. The Scarlet and Gold looked for redemption in with a 25-22 win in the third set. Chestnut Hill College came back from a 7-5 hole with a 13-4 run that earned them an 18-11 edge, before Byxbee scored the finishing touches on a 25-22 end that put the Griffins on the scoreboard. Encouraged, the Scarlet and Gold led for most of fourth set, holding the lead all the way to a 22-20 advantage. But, a late Wildcat rallied spoiled the Griffins' hopes of extending the match to a deciding frame and ended the affair on a 25-23 final.
Three Wildcats recorded double digit kills as sophomore setter Sarah Couch (Pasadena, Md.) passed out 50 assists. Junior outside hitter Mandy Behiels (Edmonton, Alberta) was the biggest benefactor with 18 kills. She also recorded a team-high 14 digs, two assists, two aces, a solo block, and a block assist. Wilmington University also made good use of their serves, scoring 14 aces in the match.

Corrine Kalala (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) joined Byxbee in double digit kills, scoring 10; it was her sixth straight match of 10 kills or more. She also recorded two digs and a block assist. Freshman setter

Cassie Callahan (St. Louis, Mo.) (11) combined for 35 assists, directing the Chestnut Hill College offense. Ramos added seven kills and five digs to her 24 assists, while Callahan recorded two kills and 10 digs in addition to her 11 assists. Sophomore defensive specialist
Kerri Sullivan (Coatesville, Pa.) was a noteworthy contributor with an assist, two aces, and a team-high 16 digs.
