Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - (10/22/2019) – Rain forced today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) quarterfinal indoors as #5 Chestnut Hill College met #4 Jefferson at the Legacy Youth Tennis and Education Center to compete for a chance to play in Saturday's semifinals at Post University. The Scarlet and Gold won the doubles point with closing wins in the third (6-4) and first (6-3) flights. Unfortunately, the Rams won all but number one singles
to advance by a score of 4-2. Senior
Barbara Broville (Toulouse, France) scored the point for the Griffins in the top individual flight with a 6-2, 6-2, victory.
Chestnut Hill College (6-7) won the doubles point, gaining the upper hand on Jefferson (9-6) with a 6-4 third flight win from Broville
and sophomore
Rachel Millan (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) and a 6-3 first flight win from freshman
Carlota Garcia Arguelles (Madrid, Spain) and sophomore
Gianna Vassalluzzo (Newtown, Pa.). In singles play, the third flight was the first to reach completion, settling in the Rams' favor by a 6-1, 6-1, measure. Jefferson then took the lead, winning number four singles 6-0, 6-0. Broville evened the battled with her 6-2, 6-2, win at number one singles, but it would be the last point the Scarlet and Gold recorded in the quarterfinal as the Rams followed it with consecutive wins at number five (6-2, 6-2) and number six (6-3, 6-0) singles.
Chestnut Hill College finishes the 2019 portion of their schedule with a 6-7 record. The Griffins will resume play in the spring of 2020.
