Chestnut Hill College Sweeps Post University for Third Consecutive Win

Philadelphia, Pa. - (10/4/2019) – Chestnut Hill College made quick work of Post University on Friday night at Sorgenti Arena, sweeping the Eagles 25-14, 25-14, 25-17. The Griffins' victory marked the team's third consecutive win, all in Central Atlantic Athletic Conference (CACC) play.

The Scarlet and Gold (6-7, 3-2) used six and seven-point runs in the middle of the first set to open up a 17-8 lead and never looked back, taking the opener by 11 points. The Eagles (0-16, 0-5) couldn't change their fortunes in the next set, falling behind 4-0 from the start and watching Chestnut Hill College continue to go on long runs before eventually taking the set 25-14. Junior middle hitter Ragen Baldwin (Lancaster, Pa,) had a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage with five kills at the end of those first two sets to pace the Griffins. The third set started with another long run, putting Chestnut Hill College ahead 6-0 before the Eagles finally sided out. Post University reeled the Griffins within three points midway through that final set, but the home team could not be caught, eventually taking it 25-17.

Senior outside hitter Shannon Veale (Toms River, N.J.) led Post University with nine of the team's 21 kills, while freshman libero Kim Buttery (Newtown, Conn.) posted 19 assists. Four different Eagles recorded at least 10 digs, with junior libero Suzy Boulay (Kingston, N.Y.) leading the charge on her 11-dig night.

The Griffins recorded a .348 hitting percentage in the match, led by junior outside hitter Corrine Kalala (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), who finished with a career-high .625 hitting percentage off of 15 kills and no hitting errors. Baldwin, who finished with a .538 hitting percentage and eight kills, had a game-high three blocks. Freshman setter Henielys Ramos (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) and senior right side Cassie Callahan (St. Louis, Mo.) helped set up Chestnut Hill College's successful offensive night, recording 20 and 18 assists, respectively.

The Griffins have a chance to continue their winning streak on Saturday, October 5 on the road at Concordia College - New York. The match begins at 6 p.m. and can be seen live on the CACC Network.
