New York Tech Bests Chestnut Hill College

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (11/16/2019) – Chestnut Hill College went on the road for the first time this season and fell to New York Tech, 70-48. The Griffins fell behind early and could not recover as the Bears ran away with the non-conference clash.

New York Tech (2-2) opened on an 8-0 run with sophomore forward Ketsia Athias (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scoring each of those points. The Griffins (1-3) fought back in the early going, but the Bears were just too much from the perimeter, knocking down six three-pointers in the opening 20 minutes to take a 35-23 lead into halftime. New York Tech extended its lead by nine thanks to stout defense in the third quarter, holding the Griffins to just nine points. The Bears finished the job in the fourth quarter to glide to their 22-point win.

Athias and junior forward Meg Knollmeyer (Hampton, N.H.) led the Bears in scoring, with 16 points and 10 points, respectively. The team shot 52 percent from the field and held the edge on the boards, outrebounding the Griffins 32-21.

Sophomore guard Lauren Crim (Warrington, Pa.) was Chestnut Hill College's leading scorer, finishing with 15 points. Sophomore forward Leah Miller (Punxsutawney, Pa.) led the team with five rebounds, including four offensive boards. She also had a team-high three steals. The Griffins got solid output off the bench from freshman guard Maura Conroy (Philadelphia, Pa.) and sophomore guard Morgan Orloski (Bethlehem, Pa.), who provided seven points and five points, respectively.

Chestnut Hill College returns to Sorgenti Arena at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November, 20 to take on Bloomsburg University.
