Philadelphia, Pa. - (11/9/2019) – Chestnut Hill College finished off its 2019 home slate with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-12) win over Dominican College on Saturday afternoon. The seniors did not disappoint on Senior Day, with right side hitter
Mykayla Milchling (Baltimore, Md.),
Cassie Callahan (St. Louis, Mo.), and
Reily Byxbee (Madison, Conn.) each hitting higher than .380 and libero
Janie Green (Hayes, Va.) producing four service aces.
The opening set was tight until the 17-14 mark, when the Griffins (13-13, 10-8) extended their lead by winning eight of the final 10 points to take it 25-16. The Chargers (0-24, 0-18) opened up an early 10-5 lead in the second set, but Chestnut Hill College mounted a comeback to eventually overtake Dominican College at the 14-13 mark. From there, the Griffins used three kills from Byxbee to help take the second set 25-21. The Griffins continued their momentum in the third set, opening on a 10-1 run. Sophomore defensive specialist
Venessa Caballero (San Dimas, Calif.) started the set with a five-point service run and finished it with another five points on her serve to take that final set 25-12.
The Chargers were powered by sophomore outside hitter Emmalyn LaPier, who led the team with nine kills, a .263 hitting percentage and 10 digs. Freshman setter Krystal Paulino (Bronx, N.Y.) provided a team-high 13 assists and two aces to Dominican College.
Milchling and Byxbee were the Chestnut Hill College team leaders with .500 and .400 hitting percentage. The two combined for a match-high two blocks each. Byxbee also posted a team-high eight digs. Callahan and junior outside hitter
Corrine Kalala (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) each topped the Griffins in kills with eight each. Freshman setter
Henielys Ramos (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) posted 14 of the team's 30 assists.
The Griffins wrap up the 2019 regular season with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup on the road against Jefferson at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13.
