PHILADELPHIA (12/18/2019) – Chestnut Hill College fell for the first time in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play on Wednesday night, dropping a 59-45 result to Holy Family University.
Junior guard
Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.) broke into double figures for the fifth game in a row, finishing with a team-high 11 points. She also tallied a game-high six assists and was second on the team with seven rebounds.
The Tigers (5-4, 3-0) started the game strong from beyond the arc, opening up a 26-10 lead after the first quarter thanks to making seven of their 10 three-point attempts. Despite Holy Family University's offense slowing down, scoring just five points in the second quarter, the Griffins (3-8, 2-1) could not find their groove from the field – shooting 27 percent in the first half to head into the break down 31-19.
After those difficult opening minutes, Chestnut Hill College could not find its way back within single digits. The Tigers, with four players finishing in double figures, kept the Griffins at an arm's distance to grab the 14-point win.
Aside from Sebold's offensive production, the Griffins finished with seven other players on the scoresheet. Sophomore forward
Leah Miller (Punxsutawney, Pa.) was a point and a rebound shy of her fifth double-double of the season. Her five offensive boards gave Chestnut Hill College a number of second chances. Sophomore forward
Bri Hewlett (North Wales, Pa.) provided seven points off the bench.
Freshman guard Moe Moore (Philadelphia, Pa.) had Holy Family's game-high of 15 points. Senior forward Elizabeth Radley (Hainesport, N.J.) topped the Tigers with nine rebounds on top of her 12 points, while senior guard Casey Schweitzer (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) added a team-high five assists to her 10-point outing.
Chestnut Hill College has one more game left before the new year, traveling to University of the Sciences for a 1 p.m. tipoff on Saturday, December 21.
