Philadelphia, Pa. - (12/7/2019) – Goldey-Beacom College visited Chestnut Hill College today, Saturday, December 7, for today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. The Lightning defense troubled the Griffins during the opening 20 minutes as Goldey-Beacom College held the Scarlet and Gold to a 23.8 (5-for-21, .238) first-half shooting performance. Afterwards, Chestnut Hill College struggled to rally from a 44-23 halftime deficit. Leaving the Lightning to a 74-53 league-victory.
Goldey-Beacom College (4-5, 1-0) quickly grew a double digit advantage over Chestnut Hill College (0-8, 0-2) as the Lightning lead reached 11 points, 13-4, with 13:45 remaining in the opening half. The Lightning gradually expanded their lead to as many as 27 points, 44-17, just before the three-minute mark (3:09), only for freshman guard
Gabe Perez (Philadelphia, Pa.) and the Scarlet and Gold to cut the halftime spread to 21 points, 44-23. Following intermission, a stabilized Griffin offense kept the margin reasonable in a 21-point, 74-53, conclusion.
Junior guard Kyle Elliot (Rahway, N.J.) led three Lightning in double figures with 14 points. He also recorded a rebound, five assists, and three steals. Freshman guard Nazim Derry (Atlantic City, N.J.) offered 13 points, two rebounds, two assists, and three steals, while freshman forward Nahsir Morgan (Atlantic City, N.J.) totaled 11 points, eight rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.

Scottie Spann Jr. (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the Scarlet and Gold. He finished with 14 points and a season-high nine rebounds, while also contributing a pair of steals on defense. Sophomore guard
James Rider IV (Baltimore, Md.) recorded 11 points, three rebounds, an assist, and a steal, while Perez finished with 10 points, five rebounds, two assists, and three steals.
Chestnut Hill College resumes their schedule next Saturday, December 14, when they return to Sorgenti Arena to host Adelphi University in a 4:00 p.m. contest.
