Scott Wilden (Wexford, Pa.) - four of which came on the man-up - paced Chestnut Hill College to a 17-9 win against Wheeling Jesuit University in today's home opener at Victory Field #1. The Griffins took a back seat to the Cardinals in the first period, 5-3, but outscored Seton Hill University 5-0 in the second period, 8-5, to reverse fortunes. Wilden's nine goals set the program's all-time mark for goals in a single game, which was previously held by recent graduate

Chestnut Hill College (2-0) got off to a slow start in the opening period, trailing Wheeling Jesuit University (0-4) by a 5-3 spread. Fortunately, an unassisted goal from Wilden at 10:31 (5-4) of the second quarter ignited a run that left the Griffins up 8-5 heading to intermission; sophomore midfielder

Mickey Holland (Brick, N.J.) (6-5, 4:09), a second goal by Wilden (7-5, 4:07), and another tally from senior defenseman
Matthew Anderson (Yardley, Pa.) (8-5, 3:49) provided the goals that set the tone for the rest of the match. With confidence, Chestnut Hill College added four more goals by the end of the third quarter, 12-6, and cemented the victory with a 5-3 fourth-quarter edge.
Senior midfielder Phillip Burns (Springboro, Ohio) led Wheeling Jesuit University with three goals. Meanwhile, freshman attack Connor O'Brien (New Albany, Ohio) offered two goals and a ground ball. Five other Cardinals chipped in at least a point apiece Sophomore goalkeeper P.J. Campion (McLean, Va.) made 17 saves and recovered six ground balls.
