Lakewood, N.J. – (2/5/2019) – After a competitive first half in tonight's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup against Georgian Court University, it was a nine-point run midway through the third quarter that stumped Chestnut Hill College in an eventual 78-65 final. Chestnut Hill College (6-14, 4-8 CACC) played an evenly matched first quarter as they trailed by just three points at the end of the frame, (19-16, 0:13). But in the second period Georgian Court University (8-12, 8-4 CACC) )was able to push the margin to eight points, 33-25 (0:21), for intermission. Wildgoose opened up the new half with the first bucket, 33-27 (9:39), but a six-point Lion run at 9:12, extended the deficit to double digits for the first time in the game, 39-27 (5:54). Abbey Spratt (Doylestown, Pa.) (39-30, 4:48), briefly broke the dry spell. Unfortunately, their efforts were not enough to motivate the Scarlet and Gold as Georgian Court University went on a nine-point run that put the game out of reach midway through the third quarter, 48-30 (4:37). Chestnut Hill College continued to fight in the final frame, but Georgian Court University maintained a solid lead until the end of the 78-65 final.
Senior forward Destiny Thompson (Bridgeton, N.J.) led the Lions with a 21-point performance, while also logging eight rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Following her was fellow senior, guard Carna Prokic (Subotica, Serbia) who totaled 15 points, two assists, and five steals. Junior guard Jada Atchison (Burlington, N.J.) offered 11 points, three rebounds, and three assists.
Miller's double-double included 15 points and 11 rebounds. She also recorded one assist. Wildgoose and Crim finished with 12 points apiece; the former also recorded four rebounds, an assist, a block, and a steal, while the latter additionall provided six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Sebold offered 11 points, two rebounds, an assist, and a steal. Spratt chipped in nine points, four rebounds, and an assist.
Chestnut Hill College continues CACC play on Saturday, February 9, when they visit Caldwell University for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
