Baltimore, Md. – (3/17/2019) – The Chestnut Hill College men's and women's tennis teams visited
Loyola University for today's dual match action. The Griffins men scored their point in doubles play as they swept Loyola University in the round in reverse order. Unfortunately, the Greyhounds served much stronger as individuals and answered with singles sweep that traded fortunes in a 6-1 final.
Chestnut Hill College (8-3) opened on a high note, winning all three double flights. Freshman
Kai Adler (Leer, Germany) and sophomore
Jesus Darias (Bolivar, Venezuela) were the first Griffin duo to claim victory over Loyola University (2-3), doing so with their 6-0 win at number three doubles. Next, juniors,
Antoine Gautier (Bordeaux, France) and
Adam Gavin (Gothenburg, Sweden) retired their Greyhound counterparts by a 6-2 measure. Junior
Erik Jorsal (Mudgeeraba, Australia) and freshman
Tom Pitchley (London, England) completed the round with their 6-0 win in the top team flight, 1-0.
Unfortunately, the Jorsal and Pitchley win was the last the Griffins would earn in the match as Loyola University swept singles play. They conquered in the third individual flight first, 6-3, 6-1, then secured their victory with successive victories in the top two individual flights; 6-3, 6-1, and 4-6, 6-2, 6-0. The Greyhounds continued with additional three-set wins at number four (6-3, 2-6, 7-5), number five (1-6, 6-2, 10-4), and number six (0-6, 6-3, 10-6) singles.
The Chestnut Hill College men's tennis team begins their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule on Wednesday, March 20, when they visit the University of the Sciences (USciences) for a 5:30 p.m. match.
