Philadelphia, Pa. – (4/1/2019) – Chestnut Hill College resumed their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule today, Monday, April 1, with an afternoon match at Jefferson. There, the Griffins secured a 7-0 victory over their local league rival with a clean sweep of both doubles and singles play. Freshman
Kai Adler (Leer, Germany) provided the match-winner with his 6-2, 6-2, triumph at number four singles.
Chestnut Hill College (11-4, 2-1) scored their first doubles win in the top team flight, where junior
Erik Jorsal (Mudgeeraba, Australia) and freshman
Tom Pitchley (London, England) posted a 6-0 victory. Adler and fellow freshman
Thibault Gasser (Anglet, France) added to the Scarlet and Gold success and secured the doubles point (1-0) with their 6-1 win at number three doubles. The team round sweep was completed in the second flight thanks to a 6-2 win by juniors
Antoine Gautier (Bordeaux, France) and
Adam Gavin (Gothenburg, Sweden).
In singles, Chestnut Hill College quickly clinched the match with individual wins from Gautier, Gavin, and Adler, who respectively scored wins in the second (6-0, 6-1), fifth (6-2, 6-0), and fourth (6-2, 6-2) flights, 4-0. Additional Griffin wins came in the third (6-2, 6-3), first (6-3, 6-4), and sixth (8-0) singles matches, where Jorsal, Pitchley, and Gasser provided respective victories.
Chestnut Hill College continues their CACC schedule on Wednesday, April 3, when they host the University of the Sciences (USciences) in a 2:30 p.m. match.
