Norristown, Pa. – (4/12/2019)- Chestnut Hill College split two games with Jefferson in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Latshaw-McCarthy Field. Chestnut Hill College took game one scoring big in the first (3) and fourth inning (4) that led to them defeating the Rams 10-7. Unfortunately, Jefferson flipped the script and a run each in the second and third inning was enough to hold off the Griffins in seven innings, 0-2.
Jefferson's (13-24, 11-11) early 0-1 edge in the opening inning was short lived as Chestnut Hill College (18-18, 13-9 CACC) brought in three runs by the innings end (3-1). Sophomore outfielder
Sam Barletta (Royersford, Pa.) started the run off with a sacrifice fly to center field that pushed junior third baseman
Ameir Uzzell (Levittown, Pa.) past home plate, 1-1. Soon after a grounder by senior catcher
Eric Gilham (Deptford, N.J.) and a double from sophomore first baseman
Andrew Dietz (Warrington, Pa.) gave the Griffins the 3-1 advantage going into the next inning. The Griffins capitalized off of their early success in the fourth inning, where freshman second baseman
Luke LeBeau (Pittsfield, Mass.), sophomore outfielder
Michael Perugini (Tamarac, Fla.), Uzzell, and Barletta all scored, putting Jefferson a difficult spot to recover from, 7-1. The Rams managed to log three points at the fifth inning and one run each in the final three innings, but the Scarlet and Gold's three runs (2, 5th; 1 7th) secured the 10-7 win.
Unfortunately, in game two the Rams returned to the rainy field with a vengeance and barley escaped a 2-0 win over the Griffins with runs in the second and third inning.
