Norristown, Pa. – (4/13/2019) - Chestnut Hill College won both games in today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest against Nyack College at Latshaw-McCarthy Field. In game one, the Griffins brought the heat scoring 16 runs in four innings that lead to the 18-7 victory, while five runs in the second inning gave the home team enough leverage to a second win, 9-5, for the day.
Chestnut Hill College (20-18, 15-9 CACC) had already set the tone by the third inning bringing in six runs to Nyack College's one run (6-1). The Griffins were silent up until the sixth inning, where a single from sophomore shortstop
Jared Healey (Philadelphia, Pa.) logged on run (7-1) and sophomore first baseman
Andrew Dietz's (Warrington, Pa.) home run to left center brought in three runs altogether, 10-2. From that point the Scarlet and Gold continued to punish the Warriors, ultimately resulting in the 18-7 final.
In game two, the Griffins posted six runs by the end of the second inning and five of which were in the second inning alone, 6-0. Junior third baseman
Ameir Uzzell (Levittown, Pa.) and Healey ignited Chestnut Hill College posting a double each that brought in two runs each (5-0). Healey finished off the runs off of a single up the middle from sophomore center fielder
John Contoudis (Jenkintown, Pa.), 6-0. The Warriors made efforts for a comeback posting four runs by the fourth inning (7-4), but the Griffins added two more ending the match 9-4.
