Chestnut Hill College Continues Elite Play With 5-2 CACC Victory Over Post University

Flourtown, Pa. – (4/14/2019) – Chestnut Hill College pinned down another valuable Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win this evening as they avoided some afternoon sprinkles and defeated Post University by a 5-2 final, at nearby Magarity Tennis Club. A 7-5 win from freshman Tom Pitchley (London, England) and junior Erik Jorsal (Mudgeeraba, Australia) at number one doubles earned the Griffins the doubles point, before singles wins from sophomore Jesus Darias (Bolivar, Venezuela) (W, 6-3, 6-2, @ #2), junior Adam Gavin (Gothenburg, Sweden) (W, 7-6, 6-2, @ #6), and Pitchley (W, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, @ #1) clinched the league victory.
 
Junior Antoine Gautier (Bordeaux, France) and Gavin were the first to earn a win for Chestnut Hill College (16-4, 6-1) as they ended the number two doubles first by a 6-2. Post University (11-7, 4-4) replied with a 6-4 win at number three doubles, but the Griffins prevailed in the top team flight as Pitchley and Jorsal scored a vital victory (7-5) to earn the doubles point, 1-0.
 
At the start of individual round, Darias added the second Scarlet and Gold point with his 6-3, 6-2, win at number two singles, 2-0. Gavin then made it 3-0 with his 7-6, 6-2, win at number six singles. Afterwards, Pitchley's 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, at number one singles, the match was decided, 4-0. Post University eventually broke the shutout with a 6-2, 7-5, win at number four singles, 4-1. In closing, freshman Kai Adler (Leer, Germany) secured number five singles next, 5-7, 7-6 (7-1), 10-2, and the Eagles took number three singles last, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3; 5-2.
 
Chestnut Hill College concludes their CACC and regular season schedules on Wednesday, April 17, when they visit #29 Concordia College (NY) for a 3:00 p.m. match.
