Griffins Fly By Golden Falcons and Celebrate Senior Class

Philadelphia, Pa. – (4/27/2019) – Chestnut Hill College a lot to celebrate today at the campus fields, where they defeated Felician University 16-5 and sent off their eight seniors, defender Kayla Czernik (Aston, Pa.), defender Sabrina Castano (Paterson, N.J.), attack Rita Lynn Trainer (Conshohocken, Pa.), midfielder Julia Reinert (Bridgeport, Pa.), defender Kaley Malampy (Ridley Park, Pa.), defender Macailagh Smith (Red Bank, N.J.), defender Kaitlin Iavecchia (Philadelphia, Pa.), and goalkeeper Valeria Amaya (Oakland, Calif.), during a Senior Day presentation before the match.

Chestnut Hill College (5-9, 4-5 CACC) gained the 2-0 advantage by 24:11 (1st Half) thanks to tallies from sophomore defender Gab Fanfarillo (Glassboro, N.J.)(25:08) and Malampy (24:11), but Felician University (0-12, 0-9 CACC) responded with two of their own, tying the match 2-2 (19:34). This would mark the last time the Golden Falcons were within a reasonable reach of the Griffins, as Reinert netted three goals in a row (3-2, 18:18; 4-2, 17:35, 5-2, 15:15) that pushed their advantage to 5-2.  Smith and junior attack Dai Pearson (Pottstown, Pa.) added two more for a half time score of 7-4.

In the second half, Chestnut Hill College scored eight straight goals, Reinert (3), Fitzgerald, Fanfarillo, Malampy and Trainer, before Felcian finally interrupted with a tally at the 2:30 mark, 15-5. Fitzgerald was able to net one (:46) more before the final buzzer ending the contest 16-5.

Reinert ending the day with six recorded goals, five ground balls, and five draw controls, leading Chestnut Hill College, while Fitzgerald, Fanfarillo, Malampy (2 AST), and Smith (3 AST) all gave two goals each.
