Rockville Centre, N.Y. - (4/6/2019) – Chestnut Hill College scored six straight fourth-quarter goals to come from behind for a 14-12 in today's victory at Molly College. The Scarlet and Gold owned a narrowed 6-5 halftime edge and scored the first two goals of the third quarter to own an 8-5 edge before a six-goal Lion run gave the home team an 11-8 edge heading to the final frame. There, Molloy College netted the first goal of the frame only to surrender six consecutive goals to the Griffins; the last two came from sophomore midfielder
Ben Revak (Aston, Pa.). Revak (4 goals, 1 assist) and junior
Scott Wilden (Wexford, Pa.) (2 goals, 3 assists) led Chestnut Hill College with five points apiece.
Chestnut Hill College (5-4) scored the first two goals of the contest, taking a 2-0 lead with goals from Revak (1-0, 14:05) and senior attack
Casey Brown (Havre de Grace, Md.) (2-0, 9:12). Molloy College (4-7) cut the Scarlet and Gold lead in half by the end of the frame, 2-1, but only traded tallies with the Griffins in the second quarter to remain a goal short at halftime, 6-5. The Lions made up for it in the third quarter, where they scored six unanswered goals after opening Griffin goals from Brown (7-5, 13:53) and junior attack
Scott Wilden (Wexford, Pa.) (8-5, 12:51). Fortunately, Chestnut Hill College's fourth-quarter effort was just as impressive as Molloy College's third quarter; following a leadoff Lion goal (12-8, 14:09), six straight Scarlet and Gold tallies reversed fortunes and scored the Griffins a 14-12 triumph in their final non-conference contest of 2019.
Junior attack Kevin Pastier (Plainview, N.Y.) was the top scorer for Molloy College with four goals. Sophomore Jack Egan (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) also totaled four points with three goals and an assist, but junior attack Anthony Teresky (Wantagh, N.Y.) headlined the Lion effort with two goals and three assists. The Molloy College defense was anchored by senior midfielder Justin English (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and senior defenseman Mike Durkin (Lake Grove, N.Y.); the former recovered nine ground balls, while the latter recorded eight ground balls and caused four turnovers. In goal, sophomore Michael Kessler (Wantagh, N.Y.) (4-6) made a dozen (12) saves.
Revak and Wilden headlined a balanced Chestnut Hill College performance as three other Griffins recorded at least two tallies. Among them was sophomore attack
J.R. Howell (East Meadow, N.Y.) (2 goals, 1 assist), sophomore attack
Carson Rees (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia) (2 goals, 1 assist), and Brown (2 goals, 1 assist). Senior
Christopher Dachowski (Sellersville, Pa.) captained the defense with four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Behind him, freshman goalkeeper
Austin Jones (Courtice, Ontario) (5-3) made 10 saves and recovered a ground ball.
Chestnut Hill College opens their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule on Wednesday, April 6, when they host Felician University in a 7:00 p.m. contest at the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Football Stadium.
