Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (4/9/2019) – Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play continued today for Chestnut Hill College, who took on the Jefferson Rams in tonight's matchup at the Hill. Both teams struggled to finish their shots in the first half resulting in the Scarlet and Gold only being down 5-3 in the opening half. Unfortunately, an early Rams run in the second half led to the 6-14 loss for the Griffins. Junior attack
Dai Pearson (Pottstown, Pa.) (1), junior midfielder
Spencer Fitzgerald (Huntingtown, Md.) (1), senior midfielder
Julia Reinert (Bridgeport, Pa.) (2), and senior defender
Kaley Malampy (Ridley Park, Pa.) (2) all contributed to the six goals.
After exchanging two goals by the 11:45 (2-2) mark of the first half, Jefferson (6-4, 5-0 CACC) went on a three goal run that put Chestnut Hill College (3-6, 2-2 CACC) down 5-2 (7:17, 1
st Half). Soon after, Pearson interrupted their streak at 6:52 (3-5, 1
st Half) to give the Griffins a chance at closing the gap before the break. Both teams battled-back-and forth but they remained scoreless until the Rams netted one more with only 12 seconds left, ending the half 6-3.
Jefferson turned up the fire early in the second half, going on a five goal run that began at 29:26, 11-3. This scoring drought rattled the Griffins and put them in an unfortunate position for the remainder of the period. Sophomore attack Teagen Hay (Mays Landing, N.J.) followed with two goals, while four other players finished with one goal each.
Reinert's two goals placed her within three of her 150
th career goals and Fitzgerald's took one off of her seven need for 100 career goals. Along with Pearson's one goal she logged the only Chestnut Hill College assist and Malampy was the co-leader in goals with her two goals for the night. Senior goalkeeper
