Griffins Honor Gavin, Gautier Scores 100th Career Win in Senior Day Shutout

Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - (9/29/2019) – Chestnut Hill College welcomed Bloomsburg University to campus for today's Senior Day match as the Griffins honored seniors Mia Covic (Novi Sad, Serbia) and Adam Gavin (Gothenburg, Sweden) prior to the opening serves. The Griffins remained perfect thus far this season as they defeated the Huskies by a decided 7-0 measure. The Scarlet and Gold won the doubles competition in reverse order before clinching the match with consecutive singles wins at number one (4-6, 6-1, 10-5), number two (6-3, 6-1) and number three singles, where senior captain Antoine Gautier (Bordeaux, France) scored the clinching point and the 100th win of his collegiate career with a 6-1, 6-4, triumph over sophomore Oliver Wieseman (Jena, Germany). 
 
Gavin and sophomore Kai Adler (Leer, Germany) gave Chestnut Hill College (2-0) a head start on Bloomsburg University (0-1) with their 6-1 win at number three doubles. The team point was secured soon after thanks to a 6-2 number two doubles win from junior Kiki Dagneaux (Saint-Gervasy, France) and Gautier. Point in hand, the Griffins completed their sweep of doubles play with a 6-2 number one doubles win from senior Erik Jorsal (Mudgeeraba, Australia) and sophomore Tom Pitchley (London, England).
 
The Scarlet and Gold continued their success with deciding wins in the top three individual flights; they came in order with Pitchley taking number one singles, 4-6, 6-1, 10-5, Dagneaux delivering at number two singles, 6-3, 6-1, and Gautier winning number three singles, 6-1, 6-4. Afterwards, Chestnut Hill College completed their shutout with additional victories in the sixth (6-2, 6-2), fourth (6-1, 6-4), and fifth (6-3, 6-1) flights thanks to the respective efforts of Gavin, Jorsal, and Adler.
 
Chestnut Hill College resumes their 2019-2020 schedule in the spring.
