Mia Covic (Novi Sad, Serbia) and
Adam Gavin (Gothenburg, Sweden) prior to the opening serves. Covic was victorious in both formats, contributing to a 6-2 win at number one doubles with fellow senior
Barbara Broville (Toulouse, France) before scoring a 6-3, 6-1, win at number one singles. Unfortunately, the resilient Huskies battled back for the doubles point before securing the 4-3 victory with late singles wins in the fourth (6-1, 6-0), fifth (6-3, 6-2), and sixth (6-0, 6-1) flights.
Covic and Broville earned Chestnut Hill College (4-2) the first win of this afternoon's affair with their 6-2 win at number one doubles. But Bloomsburg University (1-0) recovered to earn the doubles point with consecutive wins the second (6-3) and third (6-4) flights. But a 6-4, 6-3, number three singles win from freshman
Carlota Garcia Arguelles (Madrid, Spain) brought the Griffins even with the Huskies, 1-1. And succeeding Scarlet and Gold wins at number one (6-3, 6-1) and number two (7-5, 6-2) singles gave the Griffins a 3-1 advantage. Unfortunately, Bloomsburg University rallied once more, coming back for the victory with their consecutive wins in the bottom three singles flights.
Chestnut Hill College resumes their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule on Tuesday, October 1, when they host Jefferson in a 2:30 p.m. match.
